Shared Studio
Our Shared Studio is a vibrant, low-barrier workspace designed for emerging creators who value community over competition. The shared studio serves as the heart of the collective—a flexible, multi-use environment where artists of all disciplines can experiment without the high overhead of a private space.

The Workspace Atmosphere
Collaborative & Inclusive: The studio is intentionally "un-precious," fostering an environment where you can get messy, try new mediums, and learn from fellow members.
Multi-Disciplinary: On any given day, you might find visual artists, writers, and musicians working side-by-side. It is a space built for "folk" art in the broadest sense—accessible, grassroots, and community-driven.
Event-Ready: The shared studio frequently transforms into a public venue for events like Common Craft Night (Fridays) and Writer’s Jam (Mondays), making it a hub for local social connection.
Key Amenities & Features
Shared Resources: Membership grants access to communal tools and equipment, including a screen-printing setup, a dedicated photography room, and general art supplies.
Retail & Exhibition: Members have the opportunity to sell their work through the collective’s retail arm, bridging the gap between "making" and "marketing."
Affordability: The space is sustained through collective investment. Members pay affordable dues (with mini-grants available) to keep the lights on, ensuring that financial barriers don't keep local talent on the sidelines.
Location Context
Now located at The Walkaway House, the collective benefits from a larger ecosystem of creative residency. While there are private studios on-site for those needing solitude, the Shared Studio remains the primary "living room" for the North Adams arts scene—a place to find your footing and your people.
