Salon with Raquy Danziger - North Adams First Friday
Friday, September 4th, 6 - 8 pm
Common Folk member Raquy opens a window into her multi-disciplinary practice at this salon of Middle Eastern music and art. Includes a presentation about her experience studying golden Islamic art in Istanbul at 6:00, and a solo concert playing the darbuka drum and a 12-string Iranian spike fiddle called Shah Kaman at 6:45. Yinprov with Ariela Tartakovsky
Tuesday, September 15th, 6 - 8 pm
Join Common Folk member Ariela for a yin-directed approach to improv. A combination of grounding and improv techniques to create a more present and no-pressure performance, this style requires nothing but yourself and your imagination! This workshop costs $5. Lord of Worms: Artwork by Josh Giroux
Friday, October 2nd, 6 - 8 pm
During the months of September-October, Common Folk member Josh Giroux’s visceral, brain-worming showcase will be on view in the main hallway. Our reception for this show will take place during October’s First Friday. You can also view these existential masterpieces during open studio hours on Tuesdays and Fridays.

WRITER’S JAM
Every Monday, 5 - 7 pm
Prose, poetry, everything in between! If you can think of it, we’re writing it! Get feedback and writing prompts, brainstorm in a group, or simply write alongside other writers in a relaxed, judgement-free environment.

NORTH ADAMS DRAWS
Every Thursday, 10 am - 12:30 pm
North Adams Draws is an uninstructed drop-in studio session that welcomes artists of every skill level from absolute beginners to seasoned professionals. Practice capturing likeness, proportions, and dramatic lighting at your own pace. No formal instruction or critique is provided, offering a completely pressure-free environment to develop your personal style.
Artists must bring their own sketching materials and paper. Graphite pencils, charcoal, conté crayons, colored pencils, ballpoint pens, and mess-free sketchbooks will work best. No oils!
Per Session Cost: Pay what you can

COMMON CRAFT NIGHT
Every Friday, 6 - 8 pm
All are welcome to join fellow crafters for art-making in our shared space. Bring your own project to work on and chat with friends and fellow artists.
Free and open to the public!
The Shared Studio is open Tuesdays from 9 pm - 5 pm and Fridays from 10 am - 8 pm. Enjoy access to a welcoming, well-equipped space where you can create at your own pace for $10/day, view hallway shows, or simply stop in to look at the architecture of the house! Bring your projects, your ideas, your curiosity, and your creativity, and we’ll provide the space to make it happen.
