Shut The Folk Up: House Sparrow & Lady Jane

House Sparrow is a two-person band living in North Adams, Mass. Driven by synthesizers, sleigh bells, some uniquely set up four-stringed instruments, Francesca's heavenly voice, and a lot of rumination on nature, waiting, death, and time, band members Francesca Olsen and Joe Aidonidis combine their talents to create a dreamy wall of sound that's worth a close listen. Formerly performing under the moniker Francesca Shanks, House Sparrow has toured extensively since 2016.

The band also released a Daytrotter session and multiple live video sessions. Their full LP “Eat Honey, Taste Mud” was released Oct. 20 via Sounds & Tones Records.

lady jane (esperanza friel) grew up in the western mass area and spent most of high school recording songs on a tape recorder in her room. after graduating from northampton high in 2009 she continued that tradition at marlboro college in vermont, writing music in her dorm room and occasionally playing songs for friends. but after graduating from college in may 2013 she decided to take her music more seriously and starting recording songs for her upcoming album "fish and foot."
